Every cycle, this audit hits the upstream source directly (MLB Stats API, ESPN, etc.) and compares counts + freshness to what's in our local data files. If MLB has 15 games scheduled but our today.json only has 12, this page lights red.

This is the "is my data actually live" check — different from pipeline_audit (which checks file existence + age) because this validates the CONTENT matches reality.
